Post-Doctoral Research Associate in Electron Microscopy of Magnetic Skyrmions (full advert in pdf format here)
A fixed-term Post-Doctoral Research Associate position is available immediately to use electron microscopy to investigate skrymionic material and especially the structure and dynamics of the magnetic skyrmionic lattice in thin films and thinned bulk crystal. The project, which is part of a larger EPSRC-funded UK Skyrmionics Programme, will involve state-of-the-art low temperature time-resolved transmission electron microscopy, Lorentz microscopy and related techniques, analysis of lattice motion and magnetic phase transitions at the nanoscale.
Applicants must have expert knowledge of TEM, magnetic microscopy (Lorentz imaging) and image processing. Experience of using a liquid helium stage, video microscopy and image simulation would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will work in the Electron Microscopy Group under the supervision of Professor Paul Midgley.
The position is available immediately and for up to 3 years in the first instance.
Applications should include a covering letter, CV and publications list. Scientific queries should be addressed to Prof Paul Midgley (firstname.lastname@example.org)
